LAS VEGAS - May 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Mary Perry, the Republican Congressional candidate in District One is a true American who believes in helping American citizens first. A veteran who was disabled while serving in the US Air Force, Perry wants to represent the people and expose the political hypocrisy in Washington. Her grassroots campaign is being completely funded by individual contributions and she refuses to accept money from special interest groups of any kind.

"Americans deserve to know what the people in Congress are doing for them or not doing for them," she said. "We should know what elected officials are doing every single day. That includes the President, his staff and everyone else. As Congresswoman, I intend to reach out to the people and share what is really going on behind the scenes. If necessary, I will shame the politicians in Washington D.C into doing their jobs correctly."
"I want to blow the cover on the way that Washington D.C is operating. Our government should be functioning for the people, not serving the interests of politicians, big business and lobbyists."
Perry has been a family court attorney for fifteen years and has never held a political office. She was a candidate for Clark County Family Court Judge in 2014. During that campaign, Perry promised to run for Congress if she didn't get elected as a judge.
"When I lost in the primary for Family Court Judge, in 2014, I felt like I was free to speak my mind, politically," Perry said. "Judges have to be neutral and not offer political opinions. I love this country because of the Constitutional rights guaranteed. Everyone should have the right to express their opinions and run for office, not just the career politicians who always owe people favors and vote mostly along party lines."
Perry is focused on America's future and her message appeals to many people.
Jobs and Economy
·    Bring jobs back to America. Tariffs should be set so that it isn't cheaper to operate overseas and ship goods back to this country.
·    Get the federal government to operate like the average household or business by setting a budget within its means. Massive annual deficits have a negative impact on economic growth.
·    Eliminate wasteful government spending and use more resources to encourage small business ownership.

Education
·    Return control of schools to local levels.
·    Support Nevada's teachers by getting rid of the one-size fits all federal programs that take flexibility away from innovative and effective teachers.
·    Give incentives to bring trade schools to Nevada and begin teaching our students useful skills.

Affordable Care Act
·    Repealing the ACA is not an option unless we replace it; or we fix it, whatever the best solution is and costs the least.
·    Remove the government and the insurance companies from the decision making part of healthcare policy.
·    Eliminate the barriers to purchasing healthcare coverage that best suits an individual's or family's personal needs by allowing people to purchase the insurance of their choice across state lines.

Veterans
·    No veteran should be homeless, unless he or she chooses to be homeless. Anyone who wore a uniform and defended America should be housed in America's vacant government buildings.
·    The Veterans Administration should be revamped and operate more efficiently.
·    No portion of the VA disability pay should be eligible for consideration in determining an amount payable for spousal support/alimony. It should be deemed zero for income purposes.

Second Amendment
·    Americans have a constitutional, fundamental and individual right to keep and bear arms.
·    Oppose all efforts to restrict our gun rights.
·    Vigilantly protect and defend our Second Amendment rights and all other rights enshrined in the constitution.

Perry believes that national security and protecting the rights of the American people should be the primary function of the federal government.

"Americans should stop inviting the government into their lives," she said. "Our Declaration of Independence states that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit happiness and we don't have to get permission from the people in Washington D.C to do that.  The key, though, is the right to pursue happiness.  The Declaration of Independence does not guarantee that a person will be happy."

If Perry is elected to Congress, she plans to practice what she preaches. Her cell phone number will be available to the public and she will openly report the activities of Congress.
The interests of the American people are Perry's primary focus.

"Charity begins at home and a lot of our citizens are being denied opportunities because we are catering to people who weren't born or naturalized here," she said. "I am running for Congress to help the people who are willing to work for their dreams, and realize them. We still live in the United States of America, not the United Socialists of America."
