Follow on Google News | Philadelphia Food Trucks Unveil New Dishes for Summer Festival Season33rd Street Hospitality announces new menu additions for the spring/summer food truck season from Taco Mondo, Say Cheese Philly and Street Food Philly.
Michael Sultan, Carolyn Nguyen and Alan Krawitz, the culinary team behind 33rd Street Hospitality, take the menus for their mobile trucks very seriously. Instead of resting on the popularity of past dishes and keeping a consistent and simpler menu, the team strives to bring new dishes to the trucks each and every year - as well as during the season. Bringing experience from their catering business, as well as from the newly opened Revolution Taco, 33rd Street's trucks want to have a fresh, seasonal and evolving menus that challenge the kitchen team and offer variety to customers. The starting line-up for spring and early summer features new dishes that continue to add an elevated twist to popular street food. This is illustrated best by Say Cheese's new French Onion Grilled Cheese, which includes shallots, leeks and onions cooked in red wine and thyme, plus cheese and a roasted garlic spread. "I always love to eat my grilled cheese with a bowl of soup - and French Onion soup is such a comfort food classic. I wanted to find a way to enjoy them both together," said Sultan. "This way you get the best of both worlds - the bread is like the crouton." The new menu also includes several different sandwich varieties, including Street Food's Hot Roast Beef Po' Boy and a Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Po' Boy is topped with homemade pickles and Cajun mayo, while the Chicken Sandwich gets a garlic mayo spread, ginger slaw, and homemade hot sauce. Ingredients are locally sourced, and in many cases grown by the owners themselves. Not only do the owners grow some produce at A 33rd Street Hospitality garden, but they make their own spices, seasonings and sauces from scratch. It's these little details that separate 33rd Street's menus from the rest of the city's food truck fleet. "We wanted to put together a menu that had the customer asking themselves why they would want to go anywhere else," says Sultan. "You can get a chicken sandwich anywhere, but it's the homemade touches and small details that really make the experience."
