By: So Your Life Images May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month - a celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in the United States. The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) announced the theme for the observance of 2016 Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The theme is "Walk Together, Embrace Differences, Build Legacies." Ms. Alegre-Smith stated, "I'm proud to be a part Asian Pacific American Heritage Association and serve as an advisor and coordinator for events celebrating the culture." Alegre-Smith continued, "It's a privilege for So Your Life Images to serve as a sponsor for Taste of Asia." "There are actually multiple activities throughout the year to raise cultural awareness such as reading Asia/Pacific American heritage stories to children in schools and daycares; performing traditional dances at schools, marching in the Bitburg International Folklore Festival Parade, and participating in Diversity Day in September along with interviews on the Armed Forces Radio Network," said Ms. Alegre-Smith. The APAHA Council is open to accepting anyone into its membership who wants to share and preserve Asian and Pacific Islander culture. Membership is diverse and many members also participate in other cultural heritage committees and events in the local area.
