Follow on Google News | TV Host and Builder Lou Santiago Coming to Import & Performance WeekendHost of Car Fix on Velocity Slated for Three Days of Fun at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds
By: Carlisle Events Coming to this event for the first time ever is Lou Santiago, current host of Car Fix on Discovery's Velocity Channel. Import & Performance weekend runs May 20-22 and Santiago will be hanging out all weekend. While most special guests stay in one spot and fans come to them, Santiago will do something uniquely different; he'll go to the fans. Aside from one scheduled autograph session (12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday), Santiago will walk the grounds and interact with enthusiasts. He'll talk shop, answer questions, look under the hood, allow guests to pick his brain for ideas and he just might do the same back. His larger than life personality makes him easy to approach and his talents yield answers and suggestions to almost any question. During the aforementioned Saturday time slot, anyone interested can actually visit Santiago within Building T. He'll have a booth set up for photos, autographs, etc. and it'll all be free with a paid admission to the grounds. Some background on Santiago that showcases just how "cool" he is: Santiago is a Navy veteran who served his country by maintaining heavy equipment that was vital to the safety and support of Seal Team Eight. His fabrication abilities were an asset, as parts were sparse and conditions intense. After his retirement in 1997, Lou earned his Associates in Human Behavior and worked as a Behavior Management Technician at a school for children with behavioral challenges. At the same time, he taught himself how to build transmissions, brackets, roll cages and chassis. His talents took him to TV in 2005 and he's pretty much been there ever since. It's those talents and personality that bring him to Carlisle to be part of the most unique automotive event on the east coast. The Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals showcases all marques, scenes and styles. The weekend expects some 2,000 show vehicles including domestics, kit cars, motorcycles and trucks. Cars from around the world flock to Carlisle, plus some of the hobby's top builders showcase their talents at Carlisle too. In addition to the thousands of show cars, there's high-octane, adrenaline filled thrills with autocross, drifting, a rolling exhaust competition, burnouts and more! Tickets are just $10 per day, while the cost to show varies ($40 for non-judged and $65 for judged). Complete details are available at www.CarlisleEvents.com. End
