West Point Graduate, Gulf War veteran and CEO of the V2M2 Group chosen as keynote speaker for Rasmussen College graduation ceremony.
By: V2M2 Group
Franklin is a 1987 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Gulf War Veteran. Franklin has worked for companies such as Novartis, GlaxoSmithkline and Johnson and Johnson. In 2011 Franklin received his MBA from Benedictine University and left corporate America to pursue starting his own business which became the V2M2 Group, a social media and influencer marketing agency.
Franklin feels especially grateful for this opportunity because of the uniqueness of Rasmussen College. "Rasmussen is a college where people are either re-entering the workforce or perhaps pursuing a new career. At times there are those that are setting the precedence in their families for generations to come", he says. "It can be a tough road, and it takes a lot of commitment and resilience. I know, because it is those traits that helped me get through West Point, the Gulf War and being an entrepreneur. Not everyone is going to believe in your vision, and at times, the odds can seem insurmountable. I am here to tell everyone that anything is possible."
Franklin remembers his guidance counselors in high school trying to talk him out of attending the Academy. "I was a scrawny, nerdy track star. I was not the tough football player type. My guidance counselors told me that previous football players had attended and failed. Was I sure I wanted to go to West Point? That made me want to succeed even more!"
He feels that people see the end result but are never aware of the prior struggles to be successul. Franklin hopes that his personal experiences will empower those graduating from Rasmussen to pursue their dreams and live fulfilling lives.
