LA HABRA, Calif. - May 11, 2016 - PRLog -- "The Music Man" comes to La Habra for a four-week run in June.  Confidence man Harold Hill (Ray Buffer) arrives in stagnant River City, Iowa intending to cheat the community with his standard scam of offering to equip and train a boy's marching band, then skip town with the money - for he has no real music skill. Things go awry when he falls for a librarian, Marian Paroo (Mallory Staley) whom he tries to divert from exposing him, while he inadvertently enriches the town with a love of music.

Ray Buffer is pleased to be playing Harold Hill for the first time in a full production.  In high school, Buffer played Constable Locke with a fake moustache and white shoe polish in his hair.  Later in Junior College, Buffer had an opportunity to perform Harold Hill's songs in concert.  Then in the mid-90's, Ray worked for an Equity dinner theatre where he performed the role of Olin Britt (the bass in the barber shop quartet) for over 100 performances.  In 2012 he performed songs of Harold Hill from The Music Man with Kristin Towers Rowles in a benefit for the San Fernando Valley Master Chorale.

Now, in 2016 Buffer will pperform the entire role of Professor Harold Hill on the Mysterium Theater stage from June 17th to July 17th.

Ray is from West Palm Beach, Florida and relocated to California in 1999.  He now makes his home in Long Beach, CA.  Ray attended Florida Atlantic University where he attained his BFA in musical theatre. He has worked for many Equity theatres in Florida including Royal Palm Dinner Theatre as a performer, and Mark Two Diner Theatre as both a performer and a stage manager.  Ray also worked regularly at all the major theme parks in Orlando, FL. He has also worked as an actor and vocalist in opera companies, and orchestras. Ray has served as Producer, Director, and/or Musical Director for various stage plays and musicals throughout Florida.

When Ray relocated to Southern California he first worked in films, television, commercials, music videos, and voice-overs which include portraying the Stage Manager "Darrell" on the award-winning HBO Comedy Series "Curb Your Enthusiasm", as well as touring throughout the U.S. as a vocalist and vocal contractor with the Mantovani Orchestra. In addition to being an accomplished vocalist and actor, Ray composes music for films, theater and multimedia. Ray is the Director and Co-Executive Producer of the multiple award winning "Rats & Bullies" and Cinematographer for "Bullies and Friends", both are feature length Documentary Films.

In 2007 Ray formed The Relevant Stage - a theatre company based in San Pedro.  Through this company Ray programmed and produced film festivals, stand up comedy shows, burlesque enetertainment, as well as plays and musicals at Warner Grand Theatre for four years.  Ray has also performed regularly with Orchestra.net and Cherrytree Singers for Cherrytree Records, The Mantovani Orchestra, The Caroling Company and The Music Companie.  In 2013, Ray joined forces with fellow Long Beach impresario, Jonas Sills to form Art-In-Relation.  Recently, Ray has directed and appeared in productions at Mysterium Theater in La Habra.  He directed "Fame The Musical" this past March and April, and "Footloose The Musical" which is now playing throught the entire month of May (Buffer appears as Reverend Shaw Moore).
