DENVER - May 11, 2016 - PRLog -- The epicenter of health innovation will be in Denver, Colorado as over 50 health innovation thought leaders from across the U.S. gather on May 16 and 17 to advance the national conversation on health innovation and its potential to reduce costs and improve access to care and clinical outcomes. This significant collection of expertise is anticipated to generate ideas and knowledge-sharing that will influence the future of digital health and health innovation and their impact on providers, payors, consumers and new technologies.

The Prime Health Innovation Summit & Expo is organized by Prime Health, a non-profit Colorado-based digital health integrator. 2016 marks the fifth year for this annual gathering. In a collaborative environment, speakers and attendees will discuss urgent health innovation needs and best practices for integrating innovation into care models, patient satisfaction and engagement, enhancing value and interoperability.

Expected speakers include established industry constituents who are dealing with the current and pending digital disruption of healthcare's status quo, together with digital health mavericks and innovation experts. Senior executives from Hospital Corporation of America, Aetna, Medical Group Management Association, Kaiser Permanente, American Medical Association and the American Diabetes Association will lead discussions with leaders of companies such as Omada Health, iTriage, Aver Informatics and Welltok. Representatives of innovation think tanks and information technology companies venturing into healthcare, such as Salesforce and Google, are also expected.

In keeping with Prime Health's role as an integrator in the digital health space, on May 17 members of digital health ecosystems from New York, Chicago and Colorado's Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins will explore how regional ecosystems can collaborate to accelerate innovation at the national level.

Digital health solutions offer significant opportunities to enhance health through treatment and prevention as well as dramatically reduce costs; a Goldman Sachs report measured potential savings as $305 billion. These innovations encompass information and communication technologies such as telemedicine, genomics, mobile apps, wearable health technologies and data analytics. Retail giants such as Target and technology leaders like Google are using and exploring applications for digital health.

A study by Research and Markets estimated the size of the global digital health market as $55.3 billion in 2014 and projected a compound annual growth rate of 21.4% during 2015 to 2020. The study cited North America as the dominant geographical player in the market.

Colorado is at the center of this growing industry. According to StartUp Health, a global health innovation company, in 2015 Denver ranked seventh in the U.S. for funding digital health businesses; currently 130 operate in Colorado. In 2015 investors provided $145 million in funding to Colorado digital health companies. Prime Health aims to make Colorado the country's top digital health and health innovation hub by 2020.

Unlike organizations focused on the creation, incubation and acceleration segments of new product development, Prime Health serves as a digital health integrator and collaborative business ecosystem.

"Prime Health creates competitive advantage for digital health companies and the ecosystem by enhancing entrepreneurial innovation and the integration of that innovation with healthcare providers," says Jeffrey Nathanson, CEO of Prime Health. "Prime supports the full product development and implementation cycle by serving as a validator, connector, and community builder."

Members of the Prime Health ecosystem include over 2,100 healthcare administrators, providers, entrepreneurs, investors, technologists and academics. Prime Health qualifies, tests, demonstrates and validates mentored health innovations with its Value Integrator Model.

The 2016 Prime Health Innovation Summit & Expo is produced in partnership with Aetna, iTriage, Colorado Health Foundation, Ernst & Young, Kaiser Permanente and ViaWest.
