FAIRFIELD, Calif. - May 10, 2016 - PRLog -- Authors will get a look at the resources needed to publish their own books and the benefits of self-publishing at the next workshop planned by the Writers Resource Center (WRC).  The session will be taught by WRC officers Janie P. Bess and Vicki Ward who will give a presentation on their attendance at a conference held recently by the Independent Book Publishers Association. The meeting will be held on Saturday, May 14th, from 10 am to 12 noon at 1745 Enterprise Drive, Fairfield, room 113.  Seating is limited;please RSVP by emailing janiepbess@yahoo.com.  Admission is free for members; non-members pay a small fee.  Membership applications will be available at the meeting and complementary refreshments will be served.

"The trend in publishing is a move away from the use of big publishing companies," says Bess.  "More authors than ever are now using all of the available computer software, marketing, and promotion resources to publish and sell their own books. And, the large companies are taking notice - they're setting up self-publishing subsidiaries to meet the demand."

The meeting will also include a point-of-view dialogue writing exercise and a homework assignment.  Attendees should bring their own writing materials and/or electronic devices.  The workshop is part of WRC's year-long "Developing Authors Series," which covers all aspects of writing and publishing both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts.
