SAN FRANCISCO - May 10, 2016 - PRLog -- The United States National Committee (USNC) for UN Women has honored San Francisco man, Ray Arata, as a 2016 HeForShe Champion for Change.

The #HeForShe award recognizes five local men who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the advancement of gender equality or the empowerment of women or girls in the San Francisco Bay Area, nationwide or across the world.

Mr. Arata is a Co-Founder of the Gender Leadership Group which recently held the Better Man Conference in San Francisco. The conference attracted representatives from companies including Microsoft, Google, Intel, Visa, Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Hason Bridgett, Genentech, Uber, Morgan Stanley and PwC along with activist organizations like United Nations Women, Lean In, and the ManKind Project.

Ray says, "I believe everybody wins with Gender Partnership.  Men, Women, our Businesses and our world in general. I founded the Better Man Conference to support gender equality, gender partnership and help increase productivity in organizations through a heart powered inclusionary leadership and healthy masculinities model. I'm honored to be acknowledged as a change champion".

According to Cumulative Gallup Workplace Studies cited in "Business Case for Diversity with Inclusion," organizations with inclusive cultures do better on several scores than those that aren't inclusive - recording 39% higher customer satisfaction, 22% greater productivity and 27% higher profitability.

The Gender Leadership Group was established by Ray Arata, Ed Gurowitz, and Dale Thomas Vaughn with counsel from Michael Kimmel, PhD, founder of the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook University. Together they help organizations manage diversity in order to secure a competitive advantage commercially and leverage the different competencies of men and women. The group offers leadership consulting, coaching and signature workshops that focus on gender partnerships and generational gaps.
