Tickets Now on Sale for Performances at the Kravis Center's Rinker Playhouse, May 20-June 5 (West Palm Beach, FL - May 3, 2016) MNM Productions today announced that its upcoming production of the award-winning tribal rock musical HAIR meets the eligibility requirements for consideration for the Carbonell Awards, South Florida's most prestigious award for professional theater. The show will run for 20 performances May 20-June 5 at the Kravis Center's Rinker Playhouse in West Palm Beach. The talented 22-person cast is being lead by four highly acclaimed veterans of numerous South Florida stages: Mike Westrich (George Berger), Michael Scott Ross (Claude) and Alexa Baray (Sheila) and Fo'i Meleah (Dionne). HAIR is being produced by MNM's co-founders Marcie Gorman and Michael Lifshitz. The show is being helmed by director-choreographer Kimberly Dawn (KD) Smith, who directed MNM's production of A CHORUS LINE at the Crest Theatre at Old School Square in Delray Beach. Paul Reekie is serving as musical director, the same role he played for last summer's production of Side By Side By Sondheim, which was nominated for a prestigious Carbonell Award for Best Ensemble Production, Play or Musical. 'While this is only MNM's third production, Michael Lifshitz and I have been actively involved within South Florida's theatrical community for many years, so we are both delighted that HAIR meets the eligibility requirements for the Carbonell Awards," says Gorman. A special preview performance of HAIR will be presented at 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 19. The cost to attend is $75 and all proceeds will benefit Adam Hewko, the 28-year-old North Palm Beach resident who suffered a serious brain injury in a car accident last year and needs long-term medical care and physical therapy. HAIR will run at the Kravis Center's Rinker Playhouse with performances at 7:30 pm Tuesday-Saturday, with matinees at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Over 25 professional theater companies in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties participate in the awards process every year. Each season volunteer panelists and judges choose nominees and recipients from hundreds of shows produced on our area stages. The Carbonell Awards also celebrate the accomplishments of our artistic leaders by presenting 'Special Awards' and support the next generation of artists and journalists by awarding scholarships. Along with New York's Drama Desk and Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Awards, the Carbonell Awards are among the nation's senior regional arts awards and predate others, including Washington, D.C.'s Helen Hayes Awards. The Carbonell Awards are named after Manuel Carbonell, an internationally renowned sculptor, who designed the original solid bronze and marble award in 1976, the signature trophy that is given to Carbonell Award winners.
