Business Professionals of America Goes Down in History with World Record

BOSTON - May 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Today, Business Professionals of America announced it broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest gathering of people wearing tie-dye as part of the organization's 50-year anniversary celebration.

The record-setting event, which took place at Fenway Park, included students, advisors, alumni and partners of the organization from 25 states across the country and Puerto Rico. Participants were in Boston attending the 2016 BPA National Leadership Conference. The center field bleachers were filled with a recorded 1,500 participants which officially sets a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.

"We wanted to celebrate this historic milestone for BPA by doing something that 50-years from now our members can look back on and say they were a part of something amazing," said Executive Director Kirk Lawson. "What better way to celebrate not only the past 50-years of our organization, but all the amazing accomplishments of our students and advisors than by hosting a Golden Celebration at Fenway Park and breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title."

Setting a World Record is just one way that BPA is capping off its 50-year anniversary celebration. The day's event kicked off with a Walk for Special Olympics where participants followed a route downtown that led them right into the ballpark. Following the record attempt, participants enjoyed celebrating the organization's anniversary with a Golden Celebration complete with ballpark food, fun, and a private concert from national recording artists X Ambassadors and fireworks.

"The National Leadership Conference is a culmination of the hard work and effort put in by our members throughout the year," said BPA's Chair of the Board Judith McKinstry. "What a great way to not only celebrate all their accomplishments, but also celebrate the history of this wonderful organization that has been there to support them over the years. The BPA Golden Celebration at Fenway Park was not just a celebration for them, but about them."
