FAIRBANKS, Alaska - May 6, 2016 - PRLog -- The fictional Birds of Darkness is based on fact. Captain Adriana O'Donavan, a U.S. Air Force officer and ace fighter pilot decorated in the second Gulf War, is gang raped and left to die by five fellow officers.

She awakens naked and unconscious in the blistering Middle Eastern desert, where she is found by natives who take her to a military medical facility. A survivor to the core, she is determined to bring her rapists before a military court. But Adriana's commanding officer orders her to keep quiet to protect the reputation of the U.S. military. Unable to let the matter rest, she is stripped of her rank and forced to retire.

As a civilian, Adriana begins a flying service in Fairbanks, Alaska, and it is in this solitary land where only the fittest survive, she takes the law into her own hands to find ultimate justice.

About the Author: Ben Zeller attended the University of Alaska and homesteaded in College Alaska on China Ridge. He worked for the forest service, Wien Alaska Airlines in Umiat on the Colville River, and was a guide for the Arctic Research Lab on the north slopes of the Brooks Range. He presently lives and writes in La Veta, Colorado. The author has worked in the film industry as an actor, art director, and/or construction coordinator on such films as "Dances With Wolves," "Man On Fire," "Crazy Heart," "Fool For Love," "Appaloosa," and "Medicine Man." He has published five novels, as well as many poems and stories. Following Birds of Darkness, he is looking forward to publishing New England Cold Supper.
