WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - May 6, 2016 - PRLog -- Friday the 13th will be a lucky day for one Palm Beach County business owner when Palm Beach SCORE names its third annual top Entrepreneur at a celebration and luncheon at Florida Power & Light's Manatee Lagoon Center. The "Entrepreneur Extraordinaire 2016" takes home a $5,000 cash award and two runners up each receive $1,000.

The three finalists all own North County companies this year. They are Amy & Scott Angelo of Oceana Coffee which has two locations in Tequesta, Cynthia Heathcoe, of Contemporary Living, Downtown at the Gardens, Palm Beach Gardens and Dina Lauro, owner of Chunky Dunkies in Riviera Beach.

"The finalists' businesses coincidentally are located in the northern part of the county this year, although our SCORE chapter helps 1,200 clients annually with businesses located from Tequesta through Boynton Beach," says SCORE chapter chair, Penny Pompei. The 2015 winner, Luis Elu, owns Paella Grill in Greenacres and caters county-wide.

To enter, a business owner must have attended a Palm Beach SCORE workshop or received mentoring from Palm Beach SCORE mentor, been in business for a couple of years with a steady revenue stream in the six figures and have at least one employee.

An independent panel of judges from the local area business community chooses the Entrepreneur Extraordinaire and the runners up. Written entry submissions describe how the award will help the entrant's business achieve measurable results and grow to the next level.

Florida Power & Light's Manatee Lagoon Eco-Discovery Center is the location for the celebration event which will feature videos about each finalist and attendees will hear from local winners of the county's top Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA) awards as keynote speakers:

Ethan Shapiro, 14 and Ryan Shnider 15, co-presidents of "Snapped-In" (Central Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce winners) and 16 year-old Sophia DeRosa, of "Beat The Stigma" (Northern Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce winner).

The teens will describe their experiences in the local "Shark Tank" and what they face heading to regional finals in Rochester, N.Y. to compete against 100 winning other young entrepreneurs.

Manatee Lagoon Eco-Discovery Center is located at 6000 North Flagler Drive in Rivera Beach. Tickets are $50 each. Call 561-833-1672 for information between 9a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays.
