The Official Opening of The RocketLounge in Downtown Fort Myers

Fort Myers, Florida: Last week The RocketLounge (TRL) celebrated their official opening with a ribbon cutting organized by the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce. Held in TRL's downtown Fort Myers workspace, the event drew representatives from local governments, fellow technology companies, the Bonita Chamber, the Southwest Florida Regional Technology Partnership and even local business owners who were curious to learn more about TRL and their mission.

TRL kicked off the event by offering guests a tour of their new facility, along with complimentary beverages and finger foods. The ribbon was then cut in the space's lobby alongside TRL's prized rocket statue. Founder Dieter Kondek and co-founder Peter Ocsody did the honors, while Senator Garrett Richter, County Commissioner Brian Hamman, TRL board member Kevin Schoensee, and Lee County Economic Development's John Patrick Boland looked on and posed for photographs with the TRL team.

"Fort Myers has a long history of entrepreneurship. Early innovators like Edison, Ford and Firestone chose this city as a place to start exciting new industries. Our goal here at The RocketLounge is to revive innovation and entrepreneurship in Southwest Florida," stated TRL founder Dieter Kondek. "And there's no better way to do that than by bringing the tech industry here," added TRL co-founder Peter Ocsody.

TRL is proudly Southwest Florida's first Silicon Valley style incubator and accelerator for technology startups and international technology companies. Armed with a high tech workspace and a team of serial entrepreneurs and mentors, the company is looking to build on the Florida startup ecosystems of Miami, Orlando and Tampa by bringing innovative technology professionals to Southwest Florida.

"I'm proud to be on the board of directors," stated TRL board member Kevin Schoensee, "I really believe in what we're doing here. Southwest Florida is a great place to live and a great place to raise a family. We want to give other tech professionals the chance to live and work here by making Fort Myers the next Austin."

And those on the TRL team are not the only ones excited about what is to come. "The RocketLounge is the start of new era of innovation and entrepreneurship in Southwest Florida," remarked Senator Garrett Richter, "I'm very excited to watch this company grow and thrive in Fort Myers."

County Commissioner Brian Hamman also expressed his excitement. "Companies like the RocketLounge are really helping Southwest Florida diversify its economy, while providing opportunities for our most talented young people to continue to live, work, and raise a family in Lee County.  I look forward to coming back soon and meeting the new companies that The RocketLounge is drawing to Fort Myers."

Mayor Randall P. Henderson Jr. stopped by shortly after the event to congratulate the TRL team on their opening. When asked how he felt about the space and TRL mission, the Mayor responded, "The RocketLounge represents a growing trend of expanding technology and entrepreneurial creativity which is the backbone of the U.S. Economy. It is a compliment that Dieter, Peter and the team have found favor in bringing The RocketLounge to The River District. On behalf of the entire city council, we welcome the opportunity of watching RocketLounge grow and flourish in Fort Myers."
