New OnDemand 7-Hour USPAP Update Course for Business Valuation Released

RESTON, Va. - May 6, 2016 - PRLog -- The American Society of Appraisers announces the release of its OnDemand 7-Hour Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice ("USPAP") Update course specifically related to business valuation.

USPAP represents the generally accepted and recognized standards of appraisal practice that resulted from the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989. It was created to improve the quality and consistency of appraisal services to better protect the users of those services.

The first of its kind, this unique course was developed by Carla Glass, FASA and Jay E. Fishman, FASA in response to new USPAP requirements for business valuers. The course was presented last year via two live classes held in conjunction with ASA's Dallas/Fort Worth and Portland Chapters with nearly 50 students.

"ASA is dedicated to being the preeminent leader in the appraisal profession," said Robert B. Morrison, ASA, Past Chair of the Society's Business Valuation Committee. "Compliance with USPAP is required by ASA for its accredited members. The development of this unique offering not only fills an important need in the marketplace, but also showcases ASA's commitment to quality appraisal services and delivering best-in-class education for business valuers."

All business valuers holding accreditation from ASA are required to complete a USPAP update course every five years for recertification. ASA-credentialed business valuers will benefit from the business valuation-specific content and the OnDemand delivery format. The course focuses primarily on recent changes and major sections of the 2016-17 edition of USPAP that relate specifically to business valuation.

The approximate 7 hours of lecture is presented via ASA's new OnDemand format, which allows busy on-the-go professionals to conveniently access individual course modules from their computer-at their pace, in the convenience of their home, office or other location-saving on out-of-office and travel-related expenses.

Upon completion, certification will be awarded along with 7 hours of continuing education credit towards ASA reaccreditation. CPE credits pending-see course information for details (http://www.appraisers.org/Education/View-Course?CourseID=449).
