HUDSON, Ohio - May 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Student art featured at 2nd Friday Art Hop on May 13

Great art knows no age limits! The May Art Hop will salute the creativity and skill of Hudson's student artists with work on display at more than twenty locations around town.  The event will take place Friday, May 13 from 5-8pm and will showcase work from Hudson Middle School, Seton Catholic School, Hudson High School and Western Reserve Academy.  Plus, attendees will get the chance to learn a few new art skills at several locations that evening.

Stops on the Art Hop include working studios, art galleries and participating merchants in the downtown area and Evaporator Works. Hudson merchants and galleries slightly further south on Darrow Road add to the unique flavor of the event - with participants at  Hudson Park Centre and nearby, Olive My Heart and the Hudson Sampler. New to this year's Hop downtown are Estrela Consulting and (sub)urban sit celebrating its first birthday.

Groupings of artwork from Hudson Middle School, Seton Catholic School and Western Reserve Academy will be situated throughout the Art Hop and marked on the map. Hudson High School students with work on display include Caroline Bingham, John Girard, Taylor Hoppes, Shelby Johnson, Adam Martin and Gretchen Weaver.

Other featured artists include Kent State University student Sumeda Madhuri at Live.Dream.Create and jewelry artist Elizabeth Miyajima at Fair Trade on Main, which will be celebrating World Fair Trade Day. J. McLaughlin will host Gretchen Bierbaum, National Collage Society president and Mary Catherine Haneline Studio will feature her students' work.

Art Hoppers can learn a few new skills that evening with a hands-on class at The Red Twig on the Japanese art of kokedama. Here, the plant's root system is wrapped with moss and twine to create a sculptural art form. Cost for the class is $30 and pre-registration is required at (330) 842-1849. At Uncommon Art, (above Hudson Oriental Rugs), attendees can enjoy a free drop-in class on portraits. Materials will be provided.

Maps are available at all venues during the Art Hop. To learn more about 2nd Friday Art Hops or to download a map in advance, visit http://www.hudsonarthop.com or http://www.facebook.com/hudsonarthop
