Follow on Google News | New Christian Fiction: The Mystery of the Skunk Ape to be Released June 30The fourth Bible Camp Mystery -- a story inspired by Florida's bigfoot, the skunk ape -- is now available for pre-ordering.
By: New Christian Books Online Magazine In the ebook, a large ape sets campers on edge when Pastor Chet and his group return to the Central Florida backwoods for their fourth Bible Camp. "Although some are skeptical at first, they know the creature is real when it shows up on the trail," says author Cheryl Rogers. "But they still don't know quite what he is." The Mystery of the Skunk Ape, aimed at preteens and teens, is slated for release June 30 at online retailers. Priced at $2.99, the ebook is available for pre-ordering at Amazon and Smashwords. "When I read about the skunk ape, I knew I had to write about it," Rogers says. "I have lived in Florida most of my life, and had never heard of it." During their first night at Bible Camp, the boys become intrigued with the skunk ape when their wilderness guide, Mister Dennis, tells a campfire story about it. The next day one of the campers thinks he sees it. Then that evening, another camper has a sneezing fit attributed to an allergic-type reaction. Mister Dennis becomes convinced he is reacting to the ape's hair -- because it is skulking around the campsite. Hoping to find the animal and return before daybreak, Mister Dennis and the pastor's assistant, Gary, set off at bedtime - unaware 13-year-old Brad is following them. As the plot unfolds, readers learn the importance of surrendering their lives and circumstances to God, Rogers says. The other ebooks in the series include Lost in the Woods, A Bible Camp Mystery; Alone in the Woods, Bible Camp Mystery #2; and The River Adventure, Bible Camp Mystery #3. The fifth Bible Camp Mystery, Robbers in the Forest, is slated for release later in the summer. Rogers decided to become a writer as a child, when she became enthralled with Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy mysteries. Through her Bible Camp mystery series, she hopes to share the message of salvation in an entertaining way. Rogers also has written Just Like Jonah Wail Tales, a short story collection aimed at helping preteens and young teens learn there's a price to pay when you disobey. A parent/teacher guide with lesson materials, called Just Like Jonah Wail Tales Workbook, also is available. Rogers publishes New Christian Books Online Magazine at http://www.newchristianbooksonlinemagazine.com, where she shares the latest kingdom-building literature. She also is founder of Mentor Me Career Network at http://www.mentormecareernetwork.com, where she offers career advice to new and prospective writers, along with self-publishing assistance.
