The CareGivers' Project To Hold "My Mother's Recipe" May 14th, NYCIntergenerational Recipe Swap Connects Caregivers and Care Receivers Through Story Sharing
By: The CareGivers' Project "'Through My Mother's Recipe, a homemade dish and exchanging best-loved recipes from diverse cultures is a springboard to sharing personal stories and deepening intergenerational relationships," My Mother's Recipe and The Caregivers' Project bring together elderly people of diverse cultural backgrounds who live in their own homes - as well as in independent, assisted living and nursing homes - and their caregivers. It is open to professional caregivers as well as family members and neighbors who have played a caregiving role and have stories to share. A free event open to the public, attendees are asked to bring a home-cooked dish to share for feeding 8-10 people. Corporate sponsors for the May 2016 My Mother's Recipe event include: Nancy Burner & Associates, Gutterman's Funeral Home, ComForCare, AMR Care Group Inc., Dr. Steven Weissblatt, New York Financial Organizers, Comprehensive Geriatric Care and Murano Rehabilitation. The CareGivers' Project, through My Mother's Recipe and other intergenerational initiatives, provides opportunities for Gen X and Millennials to draw on the experiences of Baby Boomers as a means of inspiring change in the caregiving world.
