Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers Accepting Nominations for 'Woman of the Year' Award

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - May 3, 2016 - PRLog -- The Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers (VFAWL) is pleased to announce that they are seeking nominations for its annual Woman of the Year Award.

Candidates need not be an attorney for award consideration. Criteria considered in selecting the recipient include serving the people of Volusia and/or Flagler County; making substantial contributions to an area of importance to women; integrating a work area or profession traditionally reserved for men; outstanding service in her chosen profession; achieving recognition in her field; serving as an example to other women.

"We are excited to seek nominations again this year," said Erum Kistemaker, the VFAWL communications director and managing partner and attorney at Kistemaker Business Law Group. "It is our pleasure to recognize a woman each year that not only demonstrates a commitment to her professional, but also provides inspiration by making a difference," she added.

Nominations forms can be obtained by emailing VFAWL President Wendy Mara at wamara@maralawpa.com. Forms must be received by May 15, 2016. Completed forms can be submitted to Wendy Mara at the same email addresss.

The Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers "VFAWL" is a chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers "FAWL".  FAWL was formed on June 30, 1951. A Constitution and bylaws were adopted on June 7, 1952.  In 1980, the membership voted to amend the bylaws to provide for local chapters of the association.

VFAWL was formed on March 21,1995 with its mission being to promote the advancement of women in the legal profession, expand the leadership role of its members in the community at large, further the common interest of its members and to encourage camaraderie among its members and other professional women in Volusia and Flagler Counties.

VFAWL holds a luncheon on the second Thursday of each month at Halifax River Yacht Club.  In addition, VFAWL has regular social events and community service opportunities.   Members enjoy reduced rates for luncheons and social events.
