Changing of the Guard at Historic CBD Hotel

MELBOURNE, Australia - May 2, 2016 - PRLog -- Taking on the position will be Kevin Birchall, who has more than 19 years experience working in the industry, most recently as the general manager of the Downtowner on Lygon.

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at Batman's at such an important time. Having worked in a range of hotels across three continents, I have had the opportunity to gain exposure to many different markets and cultures and I am looking forward to putting this experience to good use.

"My involvement in both corporate and leisure orientated business models in large and boutique property styles, has also given me experience in partnering with consortia, OTA and wholesale travel markets."

Mr Duroselle said it was an exciting time for the historic CBD hotel, which underwent a complete enhancement program in 2015.

"A decision was made by the Batman's Group in 2014 to divest their hotel asset and our team has worked hard to reposition this well-known 4 star hotel.

"We are now well placed to capture any upcoming growth, particularly in niche markets such as families, educational groups and free independent travellers (FITs), and therefore it is time to hand over the leadership to a new skipper."

Mr Duroselle said this didn't mean he was retiring, and he was looking forward to pursuing a number of opportunities within the tourism and corporate sectors.

"In recent years I have taken on a number of board positions and this is an area I am passionate about. I will concentrate in the near future on my board work for Destination Phillip Island and UNelife and hope to help develop future hospitality projects for owners and investors.

"I would like to thank all my colleagues, clients and friends for their support over the last 17 years and wish Kevin all the best for the future."

Quality Hotel Batman's Hill on Collins is an historic building located in Melbourne's CBD. Originally built as a bank in 1923, it has in the almost 100 hundred years since it was constructed, seen many guises. In 1999 Yann Duroselle took over the management and in 2004 with the full support of the owners built it into a modern hotel.
