Black Youth Vote! Determined to Engage Millennials As Key Swing Vote for 2016 Presidential Election & Beyond by Connecting Protest, To Policy, To the Polls!


(Washington, DC) -  As part of its movement building and organizing strategy, Black Youth Vote! (BYV), the youth-led civil rights and social justice arm of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP), is hosting its 12th Annual Civic Leadership and Organizing Training Conference (BYV '16) on April 28-30, 2016, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Headquarters at 1800 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC.

"Black Youth Vote! is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its founding by bringing young leaders, activists and organizers together from across the country to participate in its BYV '16 Conference to share and learn about the best strategies and organizing tools to successfully mobilize Black youth to register, engage, mobilize and protect voters in the 2016 Presidential Election & Beyond, said Brianna Patterson, BYV Civic Engagement National Coordinator, NCBCP.  BYV state delegations will be attending the conference from AL, FL, GA, MD, MI, NC, OH, PA, VA and the District of Columbia.

"BYV '16 will also focus on issues that are most important to Black youth and young adults to draft its BYV Agenda 2016-2022 including: education/college affordability, criminal justice reform, reentry, workers' rights, environmental justice, health/reproductive justice, gender justice; protecting the Black vote and more," said Daniel C. Bradley, BYV Black Male Initiatives National Coordinator, NCBCP.
