A Fashionable Walk: BK Style Foundation Joined Denim Day NYC In The Walk Against Sexual Violence

NEW YORK - April 28, 2016 - PRLog -- BK Style Foundation, along with Fashion Week Brooklyn, the Official Fashion Week of the Borough, joined Denim Day NYC on Wednesday, April 27^th, for their annual walk to support survivors of sexual assault. The group started at Brooklyn Borough Hall, then headed across the Brooklyn Bridge to the steps of City Hall where they joined First Lady Chirlane McCray, Council Member Laurie A. Cumbo and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer for the movement's annual press conference.

Denim Day NYC began out of a case in which a rape conviction was overturned because the judge reasoned the victim's tight jeans meant that she had to have helped her assailant remove them, implying consent.  People were outraged all over the world and wearing jeans became an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes and myths surrounding sexual assault.

For the first time ever, Fashion Week Brooklyn model and survivor Tiffany Daure shared her story of sexual assault, which brought some of the survivors and supporters to tears.

During an interview with WPIX 11, Tiffany Daure said: "I am so thankful to all the organizations including BK Style who gave me the courage to speak up."
