How can $100,000 Help Empower Women in Your Community?

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. - April 27, 2016 - PRLog -- What would you do with the opportunity to nominate someone you know for a $10,000 grant to help empower women? If you are a member of Royal Neighbors of America, one of the largest women-led life insurers in the nation, you would submit a nomination for the 2016 Nation of NeighborsSM Program.

Deborah Logan, San Leandro, CA, was awarded a grant in 2015. "The Nation of Neighbors funds are helping me with start-up costs for Pathways to a Better You, a non-profit designed to provide support and guidance for young girls whose families have a history of domestic violence," said Deborah. "I was a victim myself and someone helped me. Now I want to give others the courage to stand up against domestic violence."

A corrections officer and Army reservist, Taumi Donovan of Perry, UT, is using her 2015 grant to start a furniture refinishing business that will provide jobs for women in transition. "It means the world to me that I can use my life circumstances to improve other women's lives and help them turn negatives into positives."

Deborah and Taumie are just two of over 1,200 individuals who received grant funds from the Nation of Neighbors Program …a total of $1.7 million since the program was launched in 2007.

The Nation of Neighbors Program provides financial support to a person who has a plan to start or expand a business or organization/group that helps women and girls in their community. Royal

Neighbors is calling on its 200,000 members nationwide and those who want to become members to submit a nomination for this grant program between now and June 15, 2016. Through the 2016 program, Royal Neighbors will present $10,000 each to 10 individuals who have a dream to empower women and girls and make a difference in their communities.

Other examples of Royal Neighbors' Nation of Neighbors' winners include women who started an anti-bullying program for young girls, a retail incubator offering entrepreneurs an opportunity to own their own businesses, and a business to sell items made by cooperatives of women around the world.
