May 1st Book Signing for Child Abuse Awareness at My Chic Party Boutique

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - April 26, 2016 - PRLog -- With millions of children getting abused each year, child abuse is a heinous epidemic - even more disturbing , most cases go unreported given the social stigma associated with abuse. Charlotte author DeAnna D. Allen serves as a supporter of preventing child abuse in children and encourages kids to report this abuse through her new book "There's A Monster In My House".

My Chic Party Boutique will host a book signing and a 'chat with the author' on Sunday May 1, 2016 at 3pm. A former educational professional & entrepreneur, DeAnna D. Allen is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and seeks to empower children to notify authorities about the abuse so that the wrong-doer can be punished in a timely manner. "There's A Monster in My House" tells the story of little Bree who was hurt at night by a "monster" & despite all her fears and shame, she finally musters the courage to disclose the incident to a trusted family member.

Timely in its release, this story is told during an age when millions of kids are the victims of sexual crimes but are too scared to disclose the abuse to anybody.  Steered by the age-old social stigma, they wrongly feel that the entire thing is their own fault while the abusive impacts continue to affect every sphere of their lives, even into adulthood.

"Most kids are able to connect to a tale they read or is read aloud to them. I am hopeful that the main character of the story, Bree, will  be able to encourage the readers to speak up with confidence against any abuse hurled to them, just like she did", noted the author.

DeAnna D. Allen has also penned another book for kids titled, "When Grandpa Lost His Smile". It's a heart-warming tale of a young boy troubled with his parents' divorce and how he still learns to find happiness in life through invaluable lessons taught from his grandpa.

"My second book is all about dealing effectively with unexpected blows and disappointments and how to stay happy amidst the pain. I am hopeful, that this story would also benefit parents, caregivers & child therapists by extending an easy pathway to tough conversations."
