Soul Sisters Raise Their Voices for Good Cause in Hong Kong

CENTRAL DISTRICT, Hong Kong - April 21, 2016 - PRLog -- The Hong Kong Women's Choir (http://thkwc.org/) (THKWC), a registered charity comprised of local and international women who Sing for Good Cause, announces its Soul Sister Spring concert schedule at Grappa's Cellar Jardine House (http://elgrande.com.hk/restaurant/grappas-cellar/), Hong Kong's premier live music venue in the heart of the city.

The choir is made up of two sister groups: Nova, the core group of singers performing a cantata, to accompaniment, and Grace Notes, who sing a cappella (unaccompanied). Together, they personify the belief that music can inspire, delight, and even heal the human soul.

The "Soul Sisters" gala event of the season at Grappa's Cellar Jardine House will will get its groove on with choreographed hit tunes such as "Heard it Through the Grapevine", "Fever", and "Stop! In the Name of Love" on Saturday 28 May, 7.30pm (doors open at 6.30pm). Tickets are on sale now, and include a 3-course dinner, in addition to performances by both NOVA accompanied by a band, and the sassy a cappella Grace Notes. There will be a Lucky Draw for some fortunate concert-goers to win some great prizes, all while contributing to good causes.

Grappa's Cellar at Jardine House is Hong Kong's premier live music venue and has played a significant role in developing the local jazz and soul-related music scene. It is also a popular Italian restaurant, with quality home-style food that has kept customers coming back for 18 years now.

The Hong Kong Women's Choir is passionate about helping those less fortunate in our community and aims for our concerts to both raise funds for and increase awareness of their needs. This year the choirs' efforts will benefit two good causes.

Bring Me a Book Hong Kong (http://www.bringmeabook.org.hk/) is the leading advocate for family literacy in Hong Kong today, facilitating access to quality children's books, nurturing their passion for reading, and empowering parents and educators to read aloud for future success in school and life.

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd (http://www.goodshepherd.org.hk/eng/history.php)is an international group of women dedicated to promoting the welfare of women and girls, especially those at risk.  The aim is to donate funds raised for our concerts to go towards the purchase of instruments so that the facility residents have opportunities to heal and thrive through music.

Recent charities that have benefited from our efforts include Foodlink Foundation Limited, Sunshine Action, Silence, Harmony House, Children's Cancer Foundation, The Home of Loving Faithfulness, Against Child Abuse, and Suicide Prevention Services, among many others.
