Sorek Memorial Scholarship Awarded to First RecipientFace Off With Cancer is excited to announce the selection of Konrad Krzywicki as the first ever recipient of the Ryan M. Sorek Memorial Scholarship to the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care Paramedic Education Program.
As a privately-funded student, Konrad has shouldered the financial burden of bettering himself in the field of emergency and paramedicine with a much larger goal in mind. After reading his application and letters of reference, the committee concluded that it would like to relieve him of some of that burden by covering $2,500 of his program tuition and, upon graduation, an additional $1,000 of his licensing, accreditation and registry fees. Knowing how fast things change in the medical world, Ryan Sorek was always striving to learn more by continually studying the latest information and protocols available. In this spirit, the committee has also awarded Konrad with a 24-month subscription to JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medicals Services) Magazine with the hope that he too will never stop trying to be the best care provider he can be. On behalf of Ryan's friends, family and colleagues in the EMS field, Face Off With Cancer wishes him a hearty congratulations and the best of luck in his future endeavors.
