Ryan M. Sorek Memorial Scholarship Awarded to First Recipient

MOORPARK, Calif. - April 21, 2016 - PRLog -- There were several well qualified and deserving applicants; however Konrad's philanthropic nature and drive to give back on a larger scale struck a chord with the selection committee.  A native of Seattle, Washington, Konrad views paramedicine as a stepping stone to his long term goal of starting an organization that specializes in foreign and domestic aid, disaster relief and education.  He envisions a global organization that employs emergency medical services personnel and veterans with the goal of working with developing nations to empower their citizens.

As a privately-funded student, Konrad has shouldered the financial burden of bettering himself in the field of emergency and paramedicine with a much larger goal in mind.  After reading his application and letters of reference, the committee concluded that it would like to relieve him of some of that burden by covering $2,500 of his program tuition and, upon graduation, an additional $1,000 of his licensing, accreditation and registry fees.

Knowing how fast things change in the medical world, Ryan Sorek was always striving to learn more by continually studying the latest information and protocols available.  In this spirit, the committee has also awarded Konrad with a 24-month subscription to JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medicals Services) Magazine with the hope that he too will never stop trying to be the best care provider he can be.
