Christy Smith Receives Endorsement For State Assembly From Congressman Ted Lieu

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - April 21, 2016 - PRLog -- Christy Smith, Democratic candidate for the California's 38^th Assembly District, proudly announced today that she has received the endorsement of Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA 33rd).

Elected to Congress in 2014 Lieu is known as a protector of the environment, Social Security and Medicare; civil liberties; and veterans and supports Smith because of sharing similar ideals.

"Christy Smith has proven herself as an elected official," said Lieu. "She is a problem solver who pays attention to the interests of the people who represent her."

Congressman Ted Lieu represents California's 33^rd District which encompasses most of the Los Angeles area.  He is a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He serves on the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Lieu also said, "Christy Smith has a track record working with people, showing leadership and getting things done.  I am confident that Sacramento and the 38^th District will benefit from having her as an assemblyperson."

Ted Lieu's endorsement is another vote of support for Smith from public officials.  She has already received endorsements from former California State Superintendent Jack O'Connell, Congressman Brad Sherman and former Superintendent for the Newhall School District Marc Winger.

The 38^th State Assembly District is one of 80 districts.  It encompasses the mountainous inner northern suburbs of Los Angeles.  It consists of the Santa Clarita Valley and Simi Valley, along with parts of Soledad Canyon and the San Fernando Valley.

Christy Smith is a two-term Governing Board Member of the highly successful Newhall School District.  She is a 34-year resident of Santa Clarita.  A graduate of Hart High School, Christy attended College of the Canyons and graduated with honors from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science in 1993. In her early career Christy worked as an analyst at the U.S. Department of Education.
