-- Gulf countries are exploring the possibility of business opportunities in West Bengal, this was the common statement by a host of dignitaries who arrived here in the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises for an exclusive event on India-Gulf Business Exchange.
Mr Tariq Izzaldeen Hassan Al-Mouthen from the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen to India was the keynote speaker at the event. He talked about the trust on quality of Indian products by Yemenis.
Mr Prasun Maiti from PwC, Dr Ranajoy Bhattacharya of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Mr Sudhakar Kasture of Helpline Impex, and Mr Ashwin Srivastava, Investor and Director of Idein Ventures were the other speakers at the event. They also participated in a panel discussion moderated by Mr Ardhendu Mandal, Managing Committee Member of the Chamber.
Mr Srivastava emphasised on the availability of funds and partnership for Indian entrepreneurs and start-ups in Bengal, for their expansion to UAE, while Dr Bhattacharya explained why Gulf is the natural destination for expansion by Indian manufacturers.
The event hinted at availability of funds for investment in companies willing to expand to Gulf as well as willingness of various governments in the Gulf to help Joint Ventures with Indian businesses. The audience consisted of businessmen and industrialists from across West Bengal, and it was an invitation-only event.
