Follow on Google News | A Rock Star and Classic Tale Go Digital in Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood App80th Birthday of Timeless Story Reimagined for iPhone and iPad
By: BSM Media Named an iTunes Editor's Pick and Best New Apps in the App Store, Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood is the creation of Brooklyn production company Giants Are Small and co-produced by Deutsche Grammophon, part of Universal Music Group. Set in modern day Hollywood, the app expands on the 80-year-old tale, adding an exciting prequel underscored by classical favorites leading in to the timeless story by Prokofiev. The app features lush graphics and a blend of sculpted, painted and animated scenes as children join Peter on a journey of robot building, a helicopter chase, and more adventures, all before he enters the forbidden meadow where he finally captures the Wolf. Rock legend Alice Cooper lends his talent as the voices for every character in Peter and The Wolf in Hollywood (http://PeterandtheWolfinHollywood.com), from Peter to the grandpa and the colorful cast of talking animals. Cooper embraces the story, saying, "I love the fact that it's moved on, and that Peter has come to Los Angeles to meet his grandfather, who turns out to be an old hippie!" Echoing Cooper, producer Edouard Getaz says, "We loved the idea of using Hollywood as a backdrop for this new take on Prokofiev's classic." The National Youth Orchestra of Germany performs the soundtrack for the app, available on all music platforms. Conducted by Alexander Shelley, the music is a beautifully composed blend of Prokofiev, Wagner, Mahler, and other musicians, featuring the score from Peter and the Wolf, one of the most recorded pieces in history. Available for iPhone and iPad, the app features navigation that triggers one musical instrument after the other, character details and the instruments representing them, and behind-the-scenes stories about the app's creation. The iPad version includes bonus features: nine games embedded in the story, from building an old robot that Peter uses to (try) to catch the wolf or discovering Peter's dream, to flying the duck (Angry Bird-style) and catching the Wolf. An additional iPad feature lets users listen to full recordings of excerpts featured in the prequel (Wagner, Schumann, Prokofiev, Puccini and many more), from the catalog of Deutsche Grammophon. Founded in 1898, Deutsche Grammophon is one of the most renowned record labels in the classical music industry. Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood is recommended for adults and children 6 +.
