CLEVELAND, Miss. - April 19, 2016 - PRLog -- Heritage Series, LLC announces the release of Honor and Duty: The Mississippi Delta Chinese, a three-part documentary series about an almost forgotten community of Chinese in America's Deep South.

This series tells how Chinese came to Mississippi in the 19th century and their challenges of coming to the United States. It features 24 Delta Chinese WWII veterans and their families as they share stories of the war and its impact on their lives in the Mississippi Delta. The documentary concludes with how the Delta Chinese influenced the social and economic fabric, customs and culture of Mississippi.

"Honor and Duty: The Mississippi Delta Chinese" will premiere on May 1, 2016 at the Bologna Performing Arts Center at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. The series will broadcast the same day on the Mississippi Public Broadcasting network and will be shown throughout the month of May in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Other screening events will be held throughout the U.S. in 2016. For a  complete schedule of dates, visit HeritageSeries.us website listed below.

"I never realized the extent to which my family's story paralleled other Chinese in the Delta until I watched this film," said Elaine Fung Semrau, former resident of Greenville, MS. "I am honored to have been able to contribute to this wonderful documentary and look forward to a greater awareness of the history and service provided by these Chinese families in the South."

"The film's importance arises not only from its focus on an almost unknown Chinese community in the heart of the Deep South, but also from what it reveals about the immigrant experience in America. It can certainly invite discussion of some of the issues engaging the US currently. "Honor and Duty: The Mississippi Delta Chinese" documentary series provides invaluable documentation of the Chinese communities in the Mississippi Delta and the enormous contributions made by so many during World War II." said Lucy Allen, Director, Museum Division, Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
