| ![]() Saving Trans Lives Through Art: A Collective Effort Needing Your HelpBy: Daliah Husu "I'm excited and honored to be a part of this much needed and innovative event. All along, it has been my dream and vision to get involved in an event that allows trans men and women to freely express who they are through their art and words," says Husu. In her book, Husu illustrates the many struggles she has suffered throughout her life as a former man and now as woman, but she also emphasizes how she has turned her life around by sheer will and through writing. "I was in a dark place for many years, doing drugs every day and hating myself," says Husu. "I finally found myself and my voice through my writing, and I pray that my words can help others in similar circumstances." "I'm hoping that others see the importance of events like TRANSART. This isn't just about putting a painting on a wall or reading an excerpt from a book. This is about making a difference in the world and saving lives," stated Husu. Husu, along with TRANSART, its sponsors, and its artists, are paving the way for trans equality, acceptance, and social integration in American society.
