2016 Love Remembers Day Trailblazer Award Winners Announced

DULUTH, Ga. - April 18, 2016 - PRLog -- The 3rd Annual Love Remembers Day Event ended with their annual trailblazer award nominations pouring in.  Veteran advocate Brian Hom, of San Jose , California  won the 2016 Legacy award for his ongoing work that has continued in memory of his son BJ Hom. Brian, along with the help of his family, has blazed the trail for so many others along with peer advocates across the nation while working diligently to continue raising awareness, showing support for all families and increasing education. His California Bay Area Walk/Run has helped to increase funding for research and education over the years and Brian hopes to increase his work with the Golden State Warriors and other sport entities in the area of food allergy awareness.   Dori Chelini of Sparks, Nevada won the 2016 Advocate award and is known for being a co-author of the state of Nevada's first food allergy policy.  Dori also  coordinated training for members of the Nevada School Nutrition Association helping to raise  awareness in an effort to develop policies for food service in support of food allergic students in Nevada schools.  She also worked to help formulate a state mandate for stock epinephrine in schools in that state as well.

Aleasa Word, chair of the Love Remembers Day committee said "The choice is never easy when selecting the winners because there are so many great people doing work.  Our selection process is not about the popular vote but instead it is about the impact and trails blazed by those whose character and work embodies the love and compassion of the event, needs and awareness in the community, inclusivity of others and a respect for the efforts of work being done by those on all levels including the medical profession, behavioral health, non-profits, grassroots and most importantly right in our own homes."
