Follow on Google News | Have You Thought About Toys in the Community? After over a year's work collecting reminiscence of peoples' childhoods, family life and upbringing Brighton Toy and Model Museum's Toys in the Community project has had its debut.
The project comprises a website which hosts numerous interviews, photographs and films of people discussing their memories. It also has a page where people are encouraged to add their own memories in writing, film or audio. As well as the site there is a travelling exhibition and ebook. The exhibition takes the form of 9 display boards featuring photos and quotes from interviewees alongside Reminiscence Boxes. These boxes contain a collection of toys from home-made dolls to Meccano and Lego, Action Man, Barbie, baby dolls, teddy bears, Trolls and action figures. These toys can be brought out and played with in a group, prompting many memories of use, elation, love, envy, loss and destruction. The travelling exhibition is currently accompanied free of charge by an organiser who has experience of holding reminiscence sessions and group discussions. They will be on hand to set up the exhibition, talk about the aims and objectives, host discussion and answer any questions visitors may have concerning the project. The exhibition will be in situ at Brighton Toy and Model Museum during Museums at Night on 12th of May. If you would like to find out where the exhibition will be next or want to add a memory of your own, just go to the website http://www.toysinthecommunity.org Media Contact press@brightontoymuseum.co.uk End
