New eBooks Help Cyclists Reduce Pain, Aid with Injury Recovery, and Feel Better On and Off the Bike

PORTLAND, Ore. - April 13, 2016 - PRLog -- BikeYoga -- a flexibility and active recovery program designed specifically for cyclists -- has recently released two new products for cyclists afflicted with chronic aches and pains due to cycling-related repetitive stress.

Although cycling is highly regarded as a low-impact form of exercise and recreation, there is risk of injury for daily and regular cyclists. From mountain biking to recreational road riding, from cyclocross to urban commuting, cycling involves a great deal of repetitive movement which can result in musculoskeletal imbalances, causing pain and dysfunction.

Developed by therapeutic movement expert Uma Kleppinger,  BikeYoga programs offer a simple but powerful combination of gentle movements and deep stretching. Designed to gently improve range of motion, ease constrictions and reduce common pain in cyclists the programs blend common yoga poses and other therapeutic movement modalities.

"Doctors frequently prescribe yoga for muscle tightness, soreness and pain, but too many yoga classes are full of trick poses and flashy choreography that is out of reach for many cyclists," said Kleppinger. "I developed BikeYoga to be accessible to everyone, no yoga experience required. I wanted to create something that would be effective for all levels of flexibility and all forms of biking."

The BikeYoga Therapeutic eBook blends traditional yoga postures with other forms of movement therapies. The practice takes between 15-30 minutes to complete and is designed to be used as a daily practice or before or after a ride. Most of the exercises are performed seated or while lying down on the floor.

The Basic Whole Body Tune-Up is a simplified eBook version of the print book published in 2010. The Whole Body Tune-Up provides an accessible but thorough classic yoga practice and is more vigorous than the Therapeutic program.

"People stereotype yoga as a women's activity, but that's like saying only men are into mountain biking. As a fairly passionate mountain biker, I take exception to these stereotypes," Kleppinger said.

"About 70% of my customers are male cyclists with little to no previous exposure to yoga.
