Former Counterterrorism Specialist Releases New Spy Thriller
Best Selling Author JT Patten Continues to Twist Reader's Minds with Realistic Conspiracy Thrills
Best-selling military thriller author, and former counterterrorism intelligence specialist, J.T. Patten has reinvigorated the political spy sub-genre with a fresh "insider's" view on global events and contemporary conspiracies.
April 13, 2016 - On April 22, Chicago author J.T. Patten will once again take on today's best selling thriller authors as an independently published writer with SAFE HAVENS: Primed Charge. Patten, a former counterterror intelligence advisor to the government and military, reached the top of Amazon's charts in Thriller categories of Terrorism, Assassination, Espionage, Military and Conspiracy with his debut novel, SAFE HAVENS: Shadow Masters, two years ago.
Sitting on the Best Seller lists alongside Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, and Brad Taylor, among others, Patten remains modest, "I'm just writing authentic stories with dark conspiratorial twists that resonate with readers who are tired of the cookie-cutter thrillers involving Islamic terrorism and larger than life heroes. As an avid reader myself, I wanted something to read that wasn't from yesterday's news but rather tomorrow's news. So I wrote it. As an intel guy, I take a look at world events, think about how they could evolve (or what's hidden behind them), and then turn the issues on their head for interesting twists. The reader feedback has been fantastic."
When asked why Patten has remained independent, he replied, "At this time, remaining independent gives me more control and agility to be as current as I can be. Most published authors submit their final manuscript a year before publication. I can make changes the day before release to ensure that my content about world events is as fresh as the morning's headlines. That's huge in contemporary fiction. Some authors writing about ISIS two to three years ago, as a fresh idea, see their story released now as old news. Coming from the intel community, what I write needs to be relevant today and tomorrow."
Patten's latest novel, to be released on April 22, but availble for pre-order now, continues the story of --surprise--- an intelligence specialist who is challenged with being a father, husband, and warrior while navigating through a wilderness of mirrors within the black operations community. However, this isn't a war-porn novel of just guns, battle scenes, and harsh language, Patten artfully weaves in the heart and soul of warriors and their families while keeping readers on the edge of their seat through authentic story telling and no lack of skullduggery from the intelligence community's headlines. His characters are dark but vulnerable and falible causing readers to take pause on whether they feel compassion for the antagonist "bad guys" or feel anger towards the protagonist "hero", at times.
