ALAMEDA, Calif. - April 11, 2016 - PRLog -- On April 30, Whimsy, a creative arts festival at Alameda Point will celebrate the the unveiling of several large-scale murals, craft vendors, live music, local beer and wine. The event runs from 1-6 pm. Admission is free.

The event partners with creative experience producer, Kulturehaus, who has designed a unique and playful street festival complete with The World's Shortest Parade.  The public is invited to participate in the parade with costumes, music, and a DIY craft station.  Additional entertainment will include brass bands playing alongside jugglers, clowns, and multiple art cars. The festival features local food and beverage purveyors Kenny's Heart and Soul, Fist of Flour, Gotta Love Kettle Corn, Lucky 13 and pouring local Alameda beer and wine.

Whimsy is part of a series of community building events in advance of the new project, The Point, a 68 acre mixed use development scheduled to break ground later this summer at the former Naval Air Station spearheaded by Alameda Point Partners. The project vision includes  mixed residential, artisanal retail, offices, restaurants, parks, and creative spaces to provide a destination for seniors, families, and urban professionals. "We are committed to revitalizing the first major development at the former Naval Air station by working closely with the local community, businesses, artists and makers. We see an opportunity to invigorate  our project with unique programming and bring a sense of creative culture and community to The Point for everyone to discover," said Pamela White, VP of Development for Madison Marquette.

The event series will build on the successes of neighboring businesses at Spirits Alley and the Alameda Point Antiques Faire to continue to cultivate a home for local creatives, makers and art and food enthusiasts. Upcoming attractions include a Fourth of July event and a pop-up container café and beer garden launching summer 2016.
