USA Xaverian Missionaries Elect New Provincial Council

WAYNE, N.J. - April 11, 2016 - PRLog -- The Xaverian Missionaries gathered at the Miramar Retreat Center in Duxbury, Massachusetts April 3 - 8, 2016 for their XV Chapter to discern their journey as they mapped out a direction into the future for the next four years. They also elected new leadership for the USA Province.

Fr. Mark Marangone, SX was elected Provincial Superior.  The Vice-Provincial is Fr. Joe Matteucig, SX, and the councilors are Frs. Tony Lalli, SX ),  Rocco Puopolo, SX  , and  Alex Rodriguez, SX. Their term is from May 1, 2016 through April 30, 2020.

New statutes for the region were developed covering all aspects of Xaverian life and charism, exploring the changes in development and fundraising and inspiring a new generation to the missio ad gentes of the Church (proclamation of the Gospel to those who do not know Christ). This includes reaching out to young people:  interfaith and intercultural dialogue; solidarity with the poor through assistance and justice; the sharing of the legacy of the congregation's Founder, St. Guido Maria Conforti; and the sharing of the stories of Xaverian missionaries and missions.  Outreach is to include every aspect of contemporary communication efforts with special emphasis on social media.

Fr. Carl Chudy SX, the outgoing Provincial, commented on the proceedings and his tenure in office. "After more than 15 years in leadership in religious life in the Philippines and the United States, I had the opportunity to serve extraordinary men of faith in sometimes very difficult situations. I have often been edified by zeal and strength of spirit exhibited in the those I served."
