HOUSTON - April 11, 2016 - PRLog -- "Apollo 8: A Christmas Moon" a nostalgic look-back film and celebration of the pivotal, historic and decisively successful mission of Apollo 8, when three American astronauts (Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James Lovell, and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders) became the first humans to leave the Earth's gravitational force, has been named an Official Selection (NASA Remi Awards category) in the 49th Worldfest-Houston International Festival.

Hunter Todd, Chairman and WorldFest Founding Director in his congratulatory official selection confirmation letter.

Audiences will experience and recall this epic space mission and the joy it gave to a war-weary nation in 1968, traveling to and orbiting the Moon, while the world watched and listened, as the astronauts read from the Book of Genesis during a televised broadcast to Earth on Christmas Eve in 1968. Moreover, viewers will realize Apollo 8's critical importance in NASA's overarching quest to land astronauts on the Moon and safely return them to Earth before the end of the decade, as President John F. Kennedy had pledged years earlier, according to NCI Film Productions President Kevin Stirling, the film's director and producer.

"Apollo 8: A Christmas Moon" features spectacular NASA footage, interviews with NASA officials and award-winning science writers and journalists who covered NASA during the 1960s space race including:George Alexander (Newsweek, LA Times), Mark Bloom (New York Daily News), Hugh W. Harris (Director, NASA Public Affairs), Bob Button (NASA Public Affairs), Victor McElheny (Boston Globe) and John Noble Wilford (New York Times).
