Four nominations in the blues category was most unexpected. The nominations are also a commendation to the many fabulous musicians and vocalists who have contributed their inborn talents and art to my music. Collectively, we're very appreciative and moved by the recognition and support of our peers, and touched that our creative expressions have received these great honors. Congratulations to all the nominees, and our sincere thanks and gratitude go out to Indie Music Channel founder Christopher Ewing, and the panel of judges for the nominations. Christopher focuses an enormous amount of time and positive energy into the career advancement of indie artists, and for that, we deeply appreciate him and his efforts."

When it comes to Blues music, Stevie Hawkins has learned from and performed with many masters of the genre. Beginning in his late teens, carrying forward into his life, Hawkins has seized the opportunity of touring and/or recording on drums for many Blues legends. Impressed by his drumming skills, technique, groove, back beat, and ability to listen on stage and off, among the stars who called upon Hawkins to provide the foundation for their rhythm section are, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Rufus Thomas, Johnny Winter, Wayne "Bear" Sauls, Gregg Allman, Heaven Davis, Sammy Blue - Crowned Prince of the Blues, Harvey Scales, Percy Sledge, and Willie Hill.
