Event medical provider, Medical Response attend local emergencies thanks to new app

WARRAGUL, Australia - April 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Paramedics from Victorian based Event Medical Provider, Medical Response have teamed up with smartphone app, GoodSAM to respond to medical emergencies nearby, and are encouraging other health professionals to do the same.

Medical Response traditionally provide first aid at private and public events, across Melbourne, Geelong and Gippsland in Victoria.   They could be on their way to or from a job when they unknowingly pass by the scene of an emergency where the patient is waiting for an Ambulance that could take more than half an hour to arrive.  The GoodSAM app changes that, and allows patients or people in the community to get help, fast.

The GoodSAM app can be installed on any smartphone, and when the user needs emergency medical assistance, they can call emergency services via the app, whilst at the same time alerting the nearest first responder.  The first responder will arrive at the scene and provide immediate lifesaving care until the ambulance arrives.

Medical Response are no strangers to emergency medicine.  Their employees are university qualified Paramedics and Nurses, and their vehicles carry similar equipment to emergency ambulances, such as defibrillators, ECG, oxygen, airway management devices, spinal immobilisation equipment, first aid kits and more.

Operations Manager of Medical Response, Jay T. says "The importance of early CPR and defibrillation is critical in ensuring the best chances of survival for the patient. 15,000 people suffer a cardiac arrest each year in Australia and survival rates can be up to 75% if defibrillation and CPR are administered within the first two minutes.  Chance of survival drops by 10% for each minute that goes by without any action".   He also states that Ambulance response times are quite often over 15 minutes, especially in rural areas, which means your chance of survival is much lower if you rely on the ambulance service alone.    "By using the GoodSAM smart phone app, you can alert a first responder who may only be minutes away, and ensure that the lifesaving treatment is commenced promptly. " He also recommends that all workplaces have a defibrillator and that everyone should be trained in CPR and first aid.

Download the GoodSam Alerter app from iTunes or Google Play store. Medical Response are registered first responders with GoodSAM and provide first response in the Drouin and Warragul area in rural Victoria. They provide event medical services state-wide.  For more information, contact Medical Response on 1300 303 655 or visit http://medicalresponse.com.au
