Culver City, CA - February 15, 2016 - Escaping an alcoholic mother (who had been Sylvia Plath's college roommate), Melissa Burch traveled to Afghanistan to film the war in 1982 and 1983 when she was just 21. In writing her memoir, My Journey Through War and Peace, she discovered how similar her experiences were with what is happening now with the Taliban and ISIS. "News about Afghanistan can be confusing for the general public," Burch said. "I want to share my truth of what it was like to be an American woman in a war-torn country in the Middle East and the possibilities of understanding between these very different cultures." About the Author Melissa Burch is the author of My Journey Through War and Peace: Explorations of a Young Filmmaker, Feminist and Spiritual Seeker.
