GOODYEAR, Ariz. - April 6, 2016 - PRLog -- The Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce Dr. Michael M. Crow as the speaker at its "Business & Breakfast" on Tuesday May 10, 2016, 7:30 to 9:00am, at Estrella Mountain Community College.

Arizona State University President Michael M. Crow will share his vision for the future of higher education, its impact on business and the community, and examples of new ASU initiatives.

"ASU is leading a new era in higher education by simultaneously advancing comprehensive excellence and access, and being responsive to the communities we serve," said President Crow. "The Southwest Valley is an important and flourishing part of our region, and I look forward to discussing how ASU is working to create new opportunities, partnerships and progress for the future."

"The Southwest Valley community is one of the fastest growing areas in the State of Arizona and this means a higher demand for educated workers," said John Safin, President and CEO of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce. "Education contributes to our community's high quality of life. Schools are one of the most important criteria to a family deciding where to live. Access to college and university studies in the local area contributes work force development and brings jobs to the economy."

Located in the heart of the Southwest Valley, Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is a partner with Arizona State University and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce. Since opening in 1992, EMCC has worked to create a "sense of place" that expresses the historical and cultural values of the surrounding communities, while providing students with meaningful and engaging learning environments. Located in the fastest growing region of the county, Estrella Mountain enrolls approximately 15,000 students annually and is master-planned to be a large comprehensive learning college of more than 40,000 students.
