Lord Neil Gibson's Belize Interests Remain, But The Media Fails To Report

More than a year ago, the interest on the part of Lord Neil Gibson in development projects in Belize was overshadowed and damaged by Channel 5 Belize's negative reporting on campaign contributions to Ralph Huang, who was running for Standard Bearer.

BELMOPAN CITY, Belize - April 5, 2016 - PRLog -- More than a year after the media outlets in Belize seized upon the opportunity to publicize the relationship between Lord Neil Benjamin Gibson and Ralph Huang as a potentially damaging for the country, there remains no credible evidence of any kind that any impropriety has occurred.  When Ralph Huang received several donations and endorsements from his friend and fellow businessman Neil Gibson during his political run for a minor office in Cayo South, outlets such as Channel 5 News were quick to jump on the opportunity to attempt to make a story where the was none to be had, publishing several articles and videos online that questioned the motivations of Gibson to make these donations to the campaign.  The news became of such consequence that it even reached the ears of Minister Contreras who was questioned about his knowledge of Gibson's interests in Belize in an interview.  Now, after more than a year has passed since Huang's election to the position of Standard Bearer, the Belize news stations have made no subsequent reports nor mentioned the story again, due to the fact that there was never a story to be made.

Lord Neil Gibson claimed over a year ago that his motivations for endorsement of Haung were due to his experience and appropriateness for the position, as well as his friendship with him.  Gibson had indeed worked with Huang on several projects in the past, and offered his endorsement as well as minor contributions to his campaign as a result.  What Gibson perceived as nothing more than the endorsement of a fellow businessman for a position within the government, the media outlets perceived as being a scandal.  They reported it as such, and their reports remain online in the forms of articles and videos that are returned in search results for Lord Neil Gibson's name.  It is unfortunate that these outlets have not seen it necessary to print any follow up or retraction after so much time has passed without their speculations coming to fruition.  It does seem that Channel 5 News in Belize will only report on speculations, but fail to act on facts.

Lord Neil Gibson has continued his interest with regards to projects in Belize to this day, and continues to consider how development projects in the country could benefit both his investors as well as the people of Belize.  These interests have been significantly toned down over the past year as a result of the negative criticism of his motivations, and how this media attention potentially hinders the ability for his colleagues to do their jobs.  This is unfortunate for Belize that their news outlets act in a way which discourages foreign participation and investment in their country which could benefit their people, but perhaps there would be a future interest in a follow-up on the story if the citizens of Belize demand it.
