Follow on Google News | Arienta Takes Up The Challenge To Fight A Tax BattleThe Passaic County's tax plan is in shambles. The situation has gone from bad to worse. As 2016 marks the 16th consecutive year for a raise in taxes.
By: SJ Media Expressing the Republican Party's opinion on the matter, GOP chairman John Traier said, "The Democratic Freeholder Board has been spending more taxpayers money more rapidly than any other county governing body in the state, and Passaic County families are suffering because of it." The Democrats Freeholder Board voted 7-0 in favor of the budget. It's astonishing to see that there was not a single objection in the board against such an injustice. Where's the accountability? Passaic County's hope for change A decorated former public servant, Arienta successfully entered the race for election to the Freeholder Board by securing the Republican nomination. Although this is his first run for public office, Arienta doesn't lack for political acumen. As a candidate for Freeholder, he brings a lot to the table not just in terms of leadership experience but also a plan to bring change. "Our current board is represented in a one sided view," claims Arienta. "There is no opposition to the out of control spending. No representation for those that are being forced from their homes due to tax increases." He seeks to change the status quo, break the Democratic hegemony in the Board, and fight for the rights of the people of the county by being the voice of reason amidst all the irrationality. He has the foresight, the astute vision that can turn things around. And, more importantly, he has a concrete plan. Fighting an uphill battle He is deeply critical of Pat Lepore, the chairman of the freeholder finance committee, who introduced the motion to pass the budget along with the tax hike. They could've avoided it entirely by allocating $5.5 million in surplus funds, believes Arienta. Lepore dismissed the suggestion and called such a notion "fiscally irresponsible." However, Arienta and Lepore have very different definitions of fiscal irresponsibility. Once elected, Arienta aims to put a stop to the excessive borrowing by the Democrats to clear up the financial mess. Moreover, he also has plans to oppose any resolution that proposes wasteful spending of valuable public resources. With the weight of public support and the faith of the GOP in his abilities, Arienta is confident that he would be able to achieve the impossible and do what hasn't been done in the past 16 years. He would bring justice. End
