WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - April 5, 2016 - PRLog -- The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is making its final push to generate the remaining funds needed to complete and open the new Triunfo YMCA in Westlake Village. The "Pave a Path for Future Generations" campaign will recognize donors with personalized bricks at the entrance to the new Y.

Bricks are available for $5,000 each, payable over five years. "We're hoping to receive donations from individuals and businesses for 1,000 bricks," says Ronnie Stone, CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, which oversees four YMCA branches including the Triunfo Y. The gifts will be matched dollar for dollar by David Murdock, Dole Food Company CEO.

"We are so close to completion. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Mr. Murdock throughout the fundraising process and to all those in the community who donate," says Stone. "This is truly a community-wide effort. Every donation is making a difference."

The new YMCA will serve Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Oak Park, Westlake Village and portions of Thousand Oaks. Construction began in 2014 and two of the three building phases are complete including the exterior of the 60,000 square foot structure, parking areas and landscaping.

The interior will include a Dole Food café with windows overlooking the pool area, a full size indoor gymnasium, fitness center, a Dole Interactive Learning Center, multipurpose rooms, an indoor lap pool, hydrotherapy pool, a community meeting space, and separate men's', women's and family lockers and changing facilities. Licensed childcare providers will oversee a child watch area so parents can drop off their children at a safe location while working out.

Once completed, up to 20,000 community members are expected to take part in activities at the Y each year. "The Triunfo YMCA will be a central meeting place for kids, families, young adults and seniors who want to participate in life-enriching programs and to stay physically fit," says Stone. "The Triunfo Y is conveniently located and is easily accessible by freeway and all major roadways."

Although lacking a physical location until now, the Triunfo YMCA has been making an impact on local families for decades. Steve Edwards, a founding Triunfo YMCA board member, says the Y played a significant role in raising his two daughters from kindergarten through high school. "The parent/child programs were life changing for us," says Edwards. "The friends we made with other parents have lasted until this day. Both girls are grown and now our grandchildren are taking part in YMCA programs."

The YMCA conducted surveys to find out what the community would like to see in the facility. "Our building design and services are based on this community input," says Larry Persons, a Southeast Ventura County Y board member. "The Triunfo YMCA has enjoyed strong support and participation in our youth programs, daycare, swim lessons and summer camp, even without a facility. That's rare. It's always been our dream to develop a facility to serve the needs of our residents. It's now about to become a reality."

The Triunfo YMCA will operate adjacent to the Westlake Village Community Park off of Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Westlake Village. Two baseball fields, a skate part, walking trails and track at the park are already open and being used by sports leagues and residents.
