Fullerton Arboretum Welcomes Bonsai Exhibit

By: Fullerton Arboretum

FULLERTON, Calif. - April 7, 2016 - PRLog -- The Fullerton Arboretum's Orange County Nikkei Agricultural and Heritage Museum will welcome a new exhibit. This Bonsai "tree in a pot" exhibit will run from Saturday, April 16th to Sunday, June 19th, 2016.

Bonsai is the Japanese art of using miniature trees grown in containers, and these techniques are seen used around the world. This art is thousands of years old and focuses on growing small plants in small, low containers. Bonsai trees are well-known to be a "living art" because they change with each season like full-size trees, and can also grow for hundreds of years. The oldest known Bonsai is over 800 years old.

This exhibit will be open Saturdays and Sundays, 10 AM-4 PM through June 19th. Admission is free but donations of $5 per person are suggested to keep the non-profit Fullerton Arboretum running.

The Orange County Nikkei Agricultural and Heritage Museum was built in 2004 through the Friends of the Fullerton Arboretum, along with a new Visitors' Center and nursery. The Fullerton Arboretum has provided an urban oasis in the otherwise metropolitan city since it opened in December 1977.
