New Comedy Reality Show "Comics Watching Comics" where aspiring comics compete for a spot at a top NYC Comedy Club

NEW YORK - April 4, 2016 - PRLog -- If Last Comics Standing and @Midnight had a baby, it would be COMICS WATCHING COMICS. Nearly 50 aspiring comics were filmed at NY Comedy club as they did their best 5 minute sets. This taping has produced 2 full episodes. Four panelists (appearances on Last Comic Standing, Fox Red Eye, Conan, America's Got Talent, and AXS) watched the footage of the comics and would praise, offer feedback, or even make fun of the comic. The winning comic from each episode gets a spot at a top club in New York City. Here's the twist: the home audience can choose their favorite panelist to return to next week's show by voting via Twitter @comicswatching and then hashtag their favorite panelist. There will also be a showcase in which the winning comedians appear on the final episode of the season. There may be a nationwide tour starring all of the winning comedians, a la American Idol or Last Comics Standing. Jeffrey Gurian (Kroll Show and Sirius XM) will appear on future episodes of the show as the "master panelist." He will give the panel a thumbs up or down on the panel's choice of the winning comedians.

The concept was created by comedian, podcaster (Safe Word podcast on iTunes) and voice over artist Kevin Gootee (Caroline's, Taj Mahal, The Stand, Gotham Comedy Club). "I'm trying to get intermediate comics a shot of breaking through to the next level. In NYC, there's probably ~40 club spots per night and ~2000 comedians. A lot of solid comics aren't getting the chances they deserve so I created a way to get them a new form of exposure."
