TURLOCK, Calif. - April 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Fusion Charter, an independent charter school of Aspiranet and partner with the Turlock Unified School District, will host its first Career Fair for students on Tuesday, April 5, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The career fair will host several representatives from local businesses, health care industry, police and fire departments, and local military branches to give high school students insight into an array of employment opportunities for them to explore while in school and after they graduate. An advisor from Modesto Junior College will also be present to offer information to students on how to enroll and explain the types of programs available for students.

Guest speakers for the career fair will include: Gil Ogden, Turlock Unified School District Director of Student Services; Frank Ratajczak, Turlock Starbucks Store Manager; and Michael Everett with The Creation Lab, a music, video and movie production company.

Fusion Charter provides a unique educational opportunity for students in grades 7-12 living in Stanislaus County who are seeking alternatives due to challenges which make it difficult to progress in a traditional school environment. The school focuses on meeting the needs of at-risk students by providing a blend of direct instruction from credentialed teachers and online learning in a nontraditional independent study program. Fusion currently has 165 students enrolled with 85 percent being high school students.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer our high school students the opportunity to meet with incredible professionals throughout Stanislaus County," said Ellyn Brannon, Community Engagement Specialist for Aspiranet. "Many of our students are unaware of the multitude of career options available to them post-graduation. It is our hope that students can network with some of these business leaders and become inspired to begin planning toward a successful career path."
