GREAT NECK, N.Y. - April 1, 2016 - PRLog -- It was recently announced that the Gold Coast Arts Center (http://greatneckarts.org/) and Gold Coast International Film Festival (http://goldcoastfilmfestival.org/) has hired Lauren Wagner as the newest addition to their team!

Lauren Wagner was born and raised in Manorville on the East End of Long Island and attended Eastport High School. From a young age she always wanted to be an artist, but never excelled in making art, unable to draw or paint to her standards of perfection, but always wanting to be involved in the arts.  However, with the encouragement of supportive parents, Wagner was always taken around to museums, Broadway plays, orchestra performance, and all the cultural events available in NY. Growing up an hour and a half outside of New York City provided a wealth of opportunities to be exposed to the culture that she loved. She later studied theatre and music, and excelled at both… but painting and drawing were still the art forms which she loved most. Powering forward, she continued to pursue her passion and admiration for art in her education. She sought guidance from great artistic mentors. Her education in the arts was focused primarily in informal learning environments - museums, galleries, etc, but she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Arts Administration from Wagner College of Staten Island and then completed her Master's Degree in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University this past May. After working in Miami as a successful art curator in a high profile gallery, Lauren Wagner has returned to her home base on Long Island. She is looking forward to bringing her experience, passion and vision to the Gold Coast Arts Center and Gold Coast International Film Festival!

Since its founding, over 100,000 people of all ages and backgrounds have taken advantage of the Gold Coast Arts Center's many classes, live performances, programs, workshops, films and art exhibits. Every day the GCAC provides students, teachers, parents, senior citizens and community members of all ages and from a wide geographic distribution with opportunities to learn about, discuss, view, enjoy, share and participate in the world of the arts and arts education.

During the seven-day Gold Coast International Film Festival; film buffs, scholars, critics, filmmakers, and regional residents come together to celebrate the art and influence of cinema in the charming and historic towns and villages of Long Island's Gold Coast. With so many exciting programs, exhibits, and live entertainment to choose from, along with additional programs and courses continually being added to their offerings, this new addition to the staff comes just in time for the Spring and Summer months of planning and presentation at 113 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck!

With such a highly acclaimed, educated, and experienced professional joining the GCAC and GCIFF team, Lauren Wagner is sure to add to the already sterling reputation of one of Long Island's most reputable institutions!
