Follow on Google News | Hebrew Academy presents Neil Simon's The Odd CoupleThe RASG Hebrew Academy presents their annual spring dramatic student production on April 3rd at 2pm.
By: RASG Hebrew Academy While Mrs. Berman is responsible for everything involved in the show, she gives all the credit to the students, who not only act, but paint the sets, supply costumes and design props. About her selection for this year, she says, "I chose "The Odd Couple" for this year's comedy because it is fun, lighthearted, and an iconic tale. Two jilted men who couldn't be more opposite, find themselves in a difficult situation that forces them to room together. The audience gets to witness these two conflicting personalities at their best, and worst. This play was written, and is set, in the 1960's, however, it transcends time because it depicts an iconic, somewhat stereotypical, relationship between two roommates. Everyone knows a Felix or an Oscar. In fact, a lot of married couples are faced with the same conflicts as Felix and Oscar. As most of the cast are seniors, and college dorm life is eminent, I think they can learn from Felix and Oscar's situation. This play was made for our cast. Our two leads, Daniel Ben Avner and Daniel Bister, are the "real-life" Felix and Oscar. Their on-stage chemistry is undeniable, and the audience will be in for a treat!" She goes on to describe the main theme of the play, "Not everyone will be like you, but if you help each other out, and are kind, things will work out. This is a concept we try to teach our students and we hope they will carry it with them as they move forward with their lives." Everyone is invited to join us at this family comedy.
